I still have a little leak of G12 which looks like it's coming from the auxiliary water pump. Parking in a nice lock up garage again means I can notice these things again
It's not a lot of fluid, but enough that on these cold days it stays on the garage floor so I can see it. A very small top up is all that's required, so it's something that can wait a few more weeks if needs be.
Since it doesn't seem like the pump is working anyway, bypassing it can't really do any damage I suppose and it will save me leaking any more in the meantime.

Is this one of those parts you need (obviously not) or one of those parts that really should be replaced and not bypassed longer term?

I wouldn't bother replacing it Aaron, I was told by my mechanic at Canberra VW Centre it's not needed at all. Just bypass it![]()
