auto ratios

Finnaly got an replacement auto for my 95 1.8 litre [throttle body injection ] works fine but not sure if i have top gear as its doing 3000 rpm for 100 k is there another ratio in there, speedo works ,and can anyone tell me which sensor on the top of the gearbox douse what. all feed back appreciated

I would have thought 3000rpm sounded okay for a 1.8 but then again I know nothing about auto's. Golf Loon should be able to give you your answers pretty swiftly

It should have 4, I`d manually change through the gears 1-2-3 and then into D and it should go up one more.
If you go faster than 100 does it change up??

100kmhr is 4th gear at 3000rpm

Thanks for that ,puts my mind at rest ,my 89 peugeot 1.9 auto douse 2500 for 100 so its close to the mark ,maybe its cause the rear seats are down in the golf it sounds kind of buisy at 100k .pugs
