Anyone want to inspect a VR6 with me in Sydney on the weekend?

    Hey guys,

I'm in Melbourne and I've spotted a VR6 colour concept on carsales that is too good to pass up. I called the guy up and have arranged to meet on Saturday morning around 9am. Anyway I'm only 17 (18 in June) and I'm planning to fly up with Mum (because I'm in a stupid state where I can't have my license until I'm 18 even though I've got over 120 hours driving) and drive back on Saturday. Although I love VR6's and live on carsales, look over vwwatercooled regularly and learn about cars through wikipedia, my knowledge is very limited compared to a lot of people on here, so I was just going to check if anyone in Sydney would be interested in having a look with me, particularly VR6 owners with good knowledge about the cars

Just reply on here or PM me or whatever if you're interested.

    Cheers

Hey mate, I wouldn't mind depending on whereabouts in Sydney this is happening in? My VR isn't registered at the moment so I'm tentative, depending on when I can get that procedure done... But I'll let you know later this week!

I've had my eye on that thing since Saturday when it was put up on carsales. Dad and I plan on checking it out this week (I'm 17 too and get my P's in 2 weeks) but we want to make sure the car is perfect for it's age before we buy it. Haven't rung the guy yet cause dads interstate at the moment.

yeah I know, I jumped on that as soon as I saw it on Saturday. May the best man win although Paul has given me something to think about with upcoming repair costs like clutch and timing chain :\

So are you saying that the car isn't in tip top condition? And also, isn't his name Eric? My main concern Is, if you plan on driving back to Melbourne, and there's mechanical issues with the car, what's gonna happen there?

The repairs would be a big question mark for me, although living in Sydney that's a call I could make, taking it 1000km could be a bigger question mark...

That said, it really depends on what the issues really are. If timing chains are due vs need to be done RIGHT NOW! makes a little difference. If the clutch was mentioned it's probably starting to show signs, which means it's more of an imminent problem.

    BUT...

If the car is otherwise sound and the price is right it really isn't that expensive to ship a car around the country. (or to have it fixed in Sydney and fly up again next week to drive it home).
