I wanted something I wouldn't have to re-apply every time I wash the car, the VHT Hood and Bumper paint seems to do the trick in that regard. You just wash it the same as the rest of the car and chamois off the water it looks good as new

    hey guys

i just took off my arch flares. to repaint them, or leave em off. It looks good off. but it has left me with discolour on the bodywork where the flares used to be. How do I get rid of that??? polish?? Also it also has exposed 2 holes in each gaurd where it looks like a piece of side trim continues on. Where do I get those peices???

    sorry if im hijacking

I thought about leaving mine off too but like you wasn't sure about a trim piece for those two holes. Maybe the CL or GL have those? As for the discolouration I think polish should take care of it.

you'll have to get them from a pre-96 gl 4 dr. I did the same, but currently putting my arches back on .

they are slightly shorter in height than the vr6 door trims but still do the trick. any one want part no.'s?

(i will be selling the 4 pieces in the future if anyone is interested)

as for the discolouring - just use some polish - no doubt there is a mark along the arch where it rubbed - so the polish will help get rid of this

If you are pulling the arch covers off a 5door - this is what you need to fill the four gaps at each corner - and it never hurts to replace the eight rubber bungs either - the green thing in the middle of the pic.

Any help is hugely appreciated.

hey dude get those rivits in stainless steel so they don't rust and make sure that you put a plastic primer on before you paint them or they will flake off after a while sweet!!!!

I used aluminium rivets, the paint I'm using has a built in plastic primer, it's especially made for use on plastics etc.

They're just regular rear quarter and front fender trim pieces. Any non vr6 / late vr6 4 door in aus will have them. So try wreckers etc

Wooooooooooooo, be careful with this thread man, it's an antique,

Those end pieces are a solid solution, BUT... the early unpainted VR side mouldings are wider than those GL/CL/Vento end plugs, so although they function fine and your average person wouldn't notice/care, to get it to match spot on you'd need to replace the door strip too... which are equally as easy to find, but then you lose the VR6 badge. Another option is to get colour coded ones.
