Anybody know this car on gumtree?

1995 Volkswagen Golf vr6 Hatchback | Cars, Vans & Utes | Gumtree Australia Parramatta Area - Harris Park | 1036006939

Been looking at this for a while now and was wondering if anyone on here knew anything about it?
obviously its catching my eye because of the price but considering its had front end damage it scares me.. If i can figure out exactly whats wrong with it does anybody know how much it would be to replace airbags?

    Cheers

Step 1 would be to make sure it hasn't made it onto any written-off vehicle register. If it has, you will have to jump through hoops to get it on the road again (that is IF it can ever go on the road again)

Parts wise, just from those little photos, you would be looking at steering wheel, dashboard (and airbags), bumper + bracket, fog light, grill, reo, bonnet, guard, headlight, looks like rad support + radiator (you can assume some hoses/aircon lines, possibly condenser). Add in the extras you will come across (bonnet catch + lock, guard liner, any number of small plastic parts around the headlight there) and it will be thousands in parts.
I'd be worried about that FR chassis rail as well, considering it has been hit hard enough to set off airbags.
Add in cost of paint and I'd put it $10k+ at a panel shop.

No idea what the car is worth un-damaged, or if parts like the bumper/foglight are readily available.

Most airbags can be found second hand for a few hundred, but that is only a small fraction of the total cost

I would say it's too far gone to be roadworthy again. IF you could get it registered the amount of money you'd spend not to mention the effort would be better off getting a clean current registered one.

I've tried contacting him 3 times over the last couple weeks and haven't gotten one single reply.
