    Hey buddy, welcome aboard.

First of all...can I suggest a much quicker, cheaper, easier and dare I say better alternative to spraying your bumpers? Every single person on this forum knows I swear by the good old Kiwi Shoe Polish you can get at any woolworths. It costs 4 bucks a bottle and you can do a whole car about 4 times generously before you need a new bottle. This is what it makes your bumpers look like (this is my old sig pic lol):

Secondly, I had badges that the chrome had come off and I painted them black. You can do that for a stealthier look, or you can paint them with a chrome paint. Not sure where to get it but I've heard it does exist. I'd probably buy new badges though...

    Hope you enjoy your stay

Might give the shoe polish a go...the worst that can happen is that I have to spray em. Did you still have to give them a sand? Also, what about the weather (ie. rain) with the polish?

And I'd love to go all black with the badges black, but might be a bit much black.

I bought new badges as my car is the same colour as yours and I thought it would be too much black. In my experience chrome paint never gives a true chrome finish and isn't worth the hassle imo. Get that noise checked though, could be the timing chain, probably not but better safe than sorry.

    Welcome!

For the plastic trim, the Kiwi Shoe Polish is the only way to go. I've sanded, prepped and painted over mine but it has now faded again. The shoe polish is a very cheap, alternative and durable way of getting it back to black again.

I reccomend Autoglym's for the bumpers and arches - no sanding and I found out through trial and error that it lasts longer than shoe polish.
I sprayed my front badge with chrome paint and red paint to reflect the mk4 GTi badges. It looked quite good until I clear coated it and then it turned yuck, and after 6 months its starting to peel. For fiddly fun, paint it. For good results, buy a new one.

P.S Sorry for the big photo

Nah mate all you do is clean the textured bumper bits and then whack it on. It's amazing how it stays there, mine's been on for 4 months and I haven't reapplied it because if I do I can't see a difference (apart from initial shine which lasts a few days then sets in). The weather is also no problem for polish; it beads water

Also check out 'dom123' s car. His car is black with black badges..it's stealthy lol.

I got myself some polish and had a crack at it on a few parts. Looks MUCH better, but will need a few more coats to get all the "grey" out.

I'll put up some pics once I'm done!!
