Yes I did as a matter of fact and here it is:What's this? You bought a VR6???
Well the airbox bottoms are interchangeable and do fit so now the GL is alot less noisy again, now I just don't have a normal VR6 airbox anymore, no matter CAI will be on soon with the heat shield.
And I'll make another thread next week once I get uni done, its not looking bad so far, although this is a tiny bit upsetting seeing this on all the time :

you should hit up someone with VAGCOM to check your errors and pay them to turn it off. or bring a 6pack. (now where can i get some VAGCOM hardware...)
i'm a big fan of the roof racks.
you should rape the spring set up from your GL so you can have some VR6 low action. om nom nom.
what are the plans for it?
87' MK2 GTI
13' MK7 TDI
Well getting a blue slip and roadworthy/registered would be a start! In the short term obviously fixing up a few things around the car, getting a set of MK4 15" steelies for one, and maybe a set of hottuning/Vmax coils for some immediate slammage. Then maybe in the not so distant future, shaved bumpers colour coded trim all slammed on Merc rims running 5x100 - 5x112 adapters. But thats long way off atm '
Hey just quickly how does one know how to take off Thule 404 roof racks? I need to check what the paint it like underneath them.

Niiice! I'm officially jealous of you haha.
You'll need to have the key that unlocks the covers near the roof sills. Once you're able to remove those covers, you'll see a hex key bolt that you can undo, and then you'll be able to remove the racks from your car. If you don't have the key, call the previous owner!!!
Well I'm still quite jealous of your wide black steelies if that makes you feel any better! I fortunately have that key you speak of, as well as a spare car key which is a nice change. I'm still worried about how long these racks have been on the car for, my guess is a few years by the looks of it Is there any potential for paint damage, god forbid rust underneath a set of roof racks ?

Unfortunately there's a chance... the rubber backing is pretty susceptible in trapping water there... I can tell you mine has a bit of rust (little spots though). I'm thinking of taking them off until I actually use it again...
Hmnn I was afraid of that, well, from what i could peel back from the rubber I couldn't see anything but I'll take them off in the morning when I remove the hex bolts. There is some damage of the clearcoat next to the edges of one of the racks but we'll see.
I'll keep my fingers crossed its just a bit of scuffed clearcoat and not a few blazing holes of rust on the roof...
