    Air Ducting

    Hey Guys,

I want to fabricate a air duct for the vr6 at current the air is coming through the front right wheel arch (factory standard one).

What I want to do is fabricate one so that it comes from the front where cool air can come through. Just for abit of a better responce. I have already bought 3" flexible tubing and I was wondering if anyone has done this before and how hard is it to do?

Tried to do it last night and Couldn't find a way to do it (maybe I was just tired lol)

ANy help would be appreciated hoping to do it before the picnic on the 3rd December.

    Hey Steve,

I did the same thing and bought some flexible ducting, tried to get it to poke through into the front, but there didn't seem to be any way to do it. You do have one option though...

If the VR6 setup is the same as mine, then directly below the air box is the charcoal canister. To remove it you need to take the wheel off and remove the abs well guard. It's a big sucker of a thing. I didn't have the guts to do it, but it can be removed and moved to another part of the engine bay (best not to delete it completely).

Once removed, you could, with some creative jigsaw work and a $6 plastic collar, fit the ducting and run it directly to beside the horn (with the plastic euro vent cover removed of course), giving you instant fresh air... If you're brave...

With regards to re-fitting the charcoal canister, just make sure that it can breathe, and use clear tubing in case anything blocks up. If you can't place the canister in an ideal open-air pozzie, perhaps you should at least attach a tube to it's little breather-dongle on the underside and run it out of the engine bay (not sure if that is sound advice? Somebody help me out here!)

Sorry my solution is so damn hard! I hope someone else's is easier...

    Cheers, John

I've taken my right front indicator out, attached the top third of a fruit juice bottle to the end like a funnel, (also got a kamei intake in front of it) and run the hose up from there, next to the engine (just in the front left corner when looking from the front) and up to a cone filter

No help possibly but i'm looking at ways too myself! although I've scored myself a set of Hella Dual light housings where I'm going to (hopefully) remove the inside (outside would be preferable) light and run ducting straight from there! Would work a charm . . . Got the idea from that German Red Devil VR6 . . .

Good luck and keep us posted with what you do!
