    Aggrevating rattle, not normal

    I have this really annoying rattle on my VR6 where my mechanic cant even find it. Ive been to 3 mechanics and they can't tell me without definitive proof that they know what it is.

    Basically when i go over bumps the right way i get a rattle. It sounds as if something hits the firewall. At first i thought it was my air intake hitting the fender, so i made a harness for it but it still did it. Then i added weatherstripping, the thick 1 inch foam padding. Nothing. Exhaust is nice and tight, suspension is good. Changed control arm bushing to polyurethane and changed upper strut mounts as well. Still happens.

    I just ordered BFI stage .5 motor mount kit which includes the transmission mount with a kid plate. If i cant find this rattle i wont dump any more money into this thing.

    Were the nuts on top of the strut mounts loose when you changed them over? I've heard similar sounds (albeit a lot quieter) when the top strut nuts are loose.

    Fitting stiffer mounts will exaggerate or introduce more rattling noises. It's a compromise between comfort and stability when it comes to these things.

    The upper strut mounts were changed to oem mounts. the original ones were crushed literally. the bolts were tight also. ive heard of stories where the spring was not seated correctly would do that. the problem is, it did not do it until i hit a bump really really hard. NYC roads are horrible, the highways even worse. speed limit on the highway is 50 mph, i do 30-40 when i see the bumps coming on, sometimes slower.

    Have to say best bet instead of guessing here is to use a chassis ear mate, plugged into 4 points you wil pinpoint the area quicker, shop around to find someone who uses one, i do when it gets to a frustrating point, havent heard you video yet
