I saw that one carsales the other week, nice buy. Black manual with leather and lowered AND with those kms is an extremely rare and wonderful thing.
And it's a bloody ripper of a VR6 to boot! The (very long now that I look back) story is that I saw a '94 VR6 just over a year ago (2nd of August 2008, took a picture ) parked near my place which I fell in love with straight away. At the time I was 4 months away from turning 16, so my dreams of attaining it seemed far-fetched to my dad. I was forced to let it go and take my mind off cars for a few more months..
So in February, I decided I would start looking again, putting up a WTB ad in the forums asking for a black manual VR6. The same one I saw popped up, and I thought all was set to go ahead. The car came over to our house so we could see it, and the owner (vr6mike on here, but I don't think he comes on anymore) took me for a quick spin around the block - and I mean that literally! However, dad again said no, claiming that the car wasn't in such great nick and would end up being a moneypit.
A few more months passed with my mind going to and fro about car decisions; lots of ideas popped into my head including EM1 Civics, an AE92 Corolla with a 20v Blacktop swap, N14 and 15 Pulsars, Subaru Liberty sedans, but nothing felt as right and exciting as the VR6.
At one point I started looking for them again - I guess I got bored. What a surprise when I saw a manual burgandy '96 with just under 110,000kms for sale! I wanted to hang on to it and not let go, as good nick VR6's were starting to get rarer by the minute. Went and checked it out, all was set, until one morning during IPT class at school I felt like browsing Carsales to make sure that one wasn't sold.
"Oh... my.... f.." I couldn't even finish that sentence! It was a black, 1997, manual, with leather seats, 94,000kms and for the pros, there were very little cons. Instantly messaged both of my parents and said I wanted this badly, at all costs. However, fate seemed to shovel crap into my face and the owner of that specific car refused to sell it to me because it was too overpowered for a 16 year old Learner. To which my parents agreed. And told me to find a Corolla. And there it was; my world, shattered.
That was just over a month ago, and that black one simply got sold and forgotten about. I hadn't checked on cars for a while, I thought 'sack it, leave it for later' and that was that. And then it happened - I got bored again, and hit up Carsales. The very same black one that I was drooling over a month ago, was being sold by the new owner because he was getting a company car. "DAAAAAAAAAAD!"
This time fate seemed to have taken my side (finally ) and dad agreed to it. Concerns of high power levels have disappeared and have been replaced by my dream car for the last year. I haven't driven it yet, because dad used this as an opportunity to get his car fixed and he's been hogging it around, but as of tomorrow it should be all mine to enjoy! With a parent by my side, of course...
Like I said, its a 1997 VR6 with black leather seats (pretty good condition, only a few scratches on them), Eibach springs/Koni shocks combo, a head unit and some generic but still very nice sounding exhaust. Plans for the future are very basic, I want to spray the wheels black vr6mike style, clear indicators, Euro lip and finish off the sound system. At the moment I've only got the Carsales pictures and one I hastily took before leaving for school this morning, but this weekend I hope to have her washed and photographed in a nice quiet area.
Suggestions, criticism and general comments are more than welcome, and goddamn that was a long read.
Cheers!
Devin

beautiful car there mate good luck with the buy
Congrats mate, paid off to be persistent aye?
Take it easy and don't be tempted to do anything crazy (yet?)!
Dude, I feel stoaked for you! The power issue is a big one because many kids can just jump into a VR and hammer it right into something. That's how many of them have lost their lives unfortunately
Take care on the roads, especially when you get your licence. I did, and it paid off because I have a good looking car and all my mates are constantly jealous cos they bought shatboxes You won't regret it if you drive this car properly.

Good stuff mate, cool story too, you obviously knew what you wanted and wasn't going to settle for anything else! Looks like you got a good one too
You don't come across as the type of guy to jump in it and thrash the nuts off it to me, but yeah as the others have said, take it easy
