right... i've just given the mechanic a call, and he said that along with a dud coolant sensor, the abs module is in a bad way... apparently the abs globe was cut off so it would go unnoticed, but i should have the car back tomorrow in other news, dads just bought himself a bmw 120i and wants to get an aftermarket stereo for it (odd...) so we've decided to have mine done at the same time

man that took a decade to type on the ps3 keyboard...!

Winner for you! abs is gone on just about every VR6 dude, I would have liked to have a working ABS in my car today..some stupid camry driver (they must love hitting my car..that's the SECOND) pulled out in front of me @70km/h...the back of the car creeped out because my wheels locked. It stopped me REALLY well though

ABS faults are very easy to diagnose with a VAGCOM or V-Checker.

My ABS light was flashing when I bought the car and had two ABS related faults. One related to rear wheel sensors. Cleaned the sensors with a compressed air gun and this fault did not return. The second fault was to do with 'pedal position sensor'. I was able to order this sensor for about $120 and fit it to the brake booster myself (a fiddly job, but was done in an hour).

Once this was done, ABS worked perfectly. As usual the Bentley manual came in handy for the remove/refit of the wonky sensor.

I often wonder how many of the VR6 ABS faults I hear about are mis-diagnosed as module or pump issues, when they could just be something simple yet obscure, like the sensor above.

    Erm, bump.

Coupla things have been going on with the car lately. She now sports new plates and a VWW sticker on the back window, but apart from that she's still the same as usual.

Faults have multiplied though Running rich for whatever reason (spark plugs, injectors etc, will check soon) and is pulling to the left due to hitting a slight lane dividing bump at a normal speed, not doing anything fancy.. Odd, but will get that looked at, I don't think it's just an alignment issue but it would definitely be a big relief if it was!

Apart from that, Mickey worked his detailer magic on her a week ago, in preparation for my driving test - which I failed Only barely, and pretty much all for lack of observational checks (ie. not doing a headcheck in all directions every tenth of a second like the RTA want you to...), but my next go is on the 29th and that should go well.

At some point in the near future I am considering joey modding the headlights and spraying the stockies matte black, for some kinda stealth bomber look Until then, toodles!

Good luck with your licence dude (Y)

For the spraying, I stripped mine etc...having done it I would have just roughed the finish up with sandpaper, primed then painted over the top. Would have come out a lot more consistent because it's very hard to strip ALL paint off.

Can't wait to see all black VR goodness. Get on it..

I'd suggest to just carefully paint over the face of the headlight, otherwise you'll compromise the delicate coat of chrome which really determines whether you have any output at all

I learnt this the hard way of course...

P's acquired and I've been driving to school lately, but of course not all days with a VR6 are sweet and rosey My driver's side window regulator just carked it on the way, at halfway down! Currently holding it up using a coupla bits of scrunched up paper and I have no idea if it'll last, but what can I do!

Question is, anybody got a place in the Eastern Suburbs where I can grab a new one? I don't really feel like trekking all the way out to Golf Loon's place, even though I really want to!
