Aerial hole

My VR6 is a late 93 build date. Just wondering if anyone else has a VR6 with the aerial hole in the front left guard or if mine has been replaced with a CL or GL guard. I cannot see any evidence of the panel being replaced.

The earlier models came out like that, ray's and pedro's I think both have the same aerial. You could put a newer panel there, and have an internal antennae as they suggested before. Mines got it on the roof, but mines a 12/97 build though.

I dont think ive ever seen that before so my guess is it has been replaced with an early (pre-aug 94) GL one.

Yeah mate, your fender panel should not have an antenna hole, as your antenna (along with every other VR6 model Golf out there) is roof mounted. Most likely that panel has been replaced.

Besides the antenna hole, I don't think there's a difference between the CL/GL and VR6 fenders of the same year. I know my fender with the antenna hole has the holes on the guard lip for attaching the wheel arch moulding.

Does it have a funny shaped plug in it? could just be an early random thing.

Found this to be common on the 93/94 VR6's with the beesting here, my guess is VW was useing up the guards they had in stock.
Mate has a september 94 built 5door VR6 and it has it too

You can still buy the rubber plug from VW, for everyone that changed to a beesting.
