With some work a VR6 can be new again. Chains, vrs kit, suspension refresh, some interior parts and away you go.
yeah 5k is a but high but its not ganna happen ever night. This build is ganna be taking place over a few years at best. Im looking at changing almost everything from the ground up. Im thinking just use static lowered springs untill i have the engine then getting vr6 coil overs to cope with the weight

5K is easily getting into 24V 3.2 money, there is one up for sale on these forums Mk5 r32 engine complete , otherwise as others have said go second hand for considerably less, would question who has a brand new ~15 year old engine just sitting around though.
