Nice pickup.
Looks pretty tidy in the pics and matches the low km
Hi guys, so after taking delivery of the car last thursday I thought I would finally post up ride thread/car diary
So she is the a MkIII 98' Golf VR6 with 94,000km on the clock! service history here and there but no books unfortunately. It is completely stock besides from the pioneer head unit. Previous owner had the car for 10 years, she has now upgraded to a 2014 corolla :/
Does have small damage on front left guard
Once life gets out of the way, the plan for the car is;
-Magnaflow 2.5inch catback exhaust system
-Autotech or AFE intake
-Mk IV or V steering wheel
-Fix ABS and Handbreak errors (most likely sensors) both lights come on and off.. mostly on.
-Smoked indicator and foglight assembly
-Update keyless entry OEM spec.. currently has old cheap keyless working with the old central locking vacuum system
-Engine bay clean up, new leads and piping (matching red)
-Darkest legal tint
-Strutbrace
-Thume roof racks
-Type R Alpine splits 6.5 front and rear.. fronts amped up to four channel
-Install my old Alpine CDA137EBT head unit.. or will sell off for something to match the green illumination haha
-New rims at some point
-Euro rego plates
and the very last thing.. coil overs.
Here are some photos!
My two passenger who allow me to always use the carpool lanes
Useless.
Ps. we call it the hoop-mobile (Girlfriends doing), obviously because of the number plates.. the lady said I could keep them..

Thanks! body is straight but you can tell people don't mind hitting it in the car park
Small update! found a small exhaust place in Greenborough who can order in a Magnaflow cutback.. but for a whopping 1300 dollars!
Also went to install my head unit today.. but couldn't work how to take out the ashtray, aircon and window switches after getting the two screws out and removing the ashtray. Gotta remove them so I can run rear AUX and usb cords too the cubby under it all, as the glove box is sealed and the cubby has a small hole big enough for me to run it all through!
So any help with that would be greatly appreciated!
Let me know once you figure it out. Quite interested too.

Ashtray just pulls out, should be two screws, then slide that handbrake section backwards a touch and lever forwards over the handbrake; There's another two screws for the next piece that runs into the dash, which i'm assuming you're referring to as the cubby? undo those screws and it'll simply slide backwards and out.....
The fan switches facia just snaps out, so pry it off with a flathead screw driver or the like, then undo the four screws there and another two screws in behind the ashtray; That whole center panel should fall away then...
Wherebouts in greensborough is this? You live in the area?
Thanks Ki11Z, wasn't sure if the AC buttons, and window buttons just popped off
Got a quote done on my audio yesterday. Front and rear alpine both amped with wiring ready for another amp (1500)
A little more than I thought.. Just don't know if I'm going to run 1 5chan or 4 chan + mono just want to keep the cost down currently as the sub isn't going to be installed for months.
Rang a wholesaler for magnaflow and they want 1100.. Cheaper but still bloody ridiculous. Found one shipped to AUS for 800 but who can be sure of quality?
I put panel work at easy 1k and that still leaves heaps of imperfections and trolly dings but the bumpers and left front fender will be sweet again
The planning and pricing continues!
junyip_69, grimshaw st my whole car done, carpets out, seats interior and exterior cut and polished I got quoted 250 which I'll do once I get some **** done to the inside
man, I don't know if you have money to burn, but call on some local vw guys, stereo installs are easy. By doing it yourself you learn and you also know that it's been done legit without shortcuts.....
Any reason why you specifically want a magnaflow system?
No not really.. I know this guy does a really good job and his stock is always cheaper than anybody else's. I would give a crack at a DIY install but I also haven't been on here long enough to meet the VIC guys on here.
And I just love the sound of it really, not to loud but real meaty and mean sounding! Have checked out miltek and lukey also.. All quite expensive.
Getting my ABS fixed for free soon as I caught him out on the dodgy RWC he supplied the seller and hopefully can get the handbreak light also looked at .. It's always on. Have checked fluid level and the sensor on the fluid cap. Just need to check handbreak sensor
This bloke better no try hustle me dodgy bugger
