    2.0 GL Shifter bushing replacement?

    Hey there,

I've got a really floppy knob (lel) and am looking to replace the bushings to get it back to the the OEM tight feeling. I've purchased a kit to replace all of the bushes within the entire assembly but I'm having trouble locating a source that can help me out. I am unsure on the process. Could someone shed some light on how to do it? I've got way too much play in the shifter and because of it, it's becoming quite difficult to find the gear I want. Thanks!

Try Camden GTI. They know plenty about MK3s

There one main one bewteen the back of the gearbox and the firewall.

Once that falls apart, it's all over the shop.

Just do them one at a time. I don't think there's anything overly complicated on these.

Do you know which bushing I need to replace to stop the play in the gear stick? And which one to help me get it into gear?

    2.0 Shifter Rebuild

this shows how to change all the linkage bushes at the gearbox end of the linkage.

the bigger round one that he replaces with the square one was my biggest problem, mine had almost entirely disintegrated. I had to dodgey it up with PVC pipe & some rubber hose to get me out of trouble before I got new parts.
