Nah no need to change gearbox u can use ur old 020. If u get an ABF its a bolt in affair with the wiring itll just plug in. With the 9A's its a bit more complicated and thats the route im going down (plan to use aftermarket management).
Things to consider are changing things like clutch, balljoints, cv's, mounts etc since uve got the engine out. And also if u want to do the vr6 brake conversion then thats basically swap subframe.
