1.9TDI's are great fun in a mk 3.
I've got a factory later model TDI (not M-TD), which has been chipped, and it goes great, and gets great fuel economy.
Hi
Just wondering if anyone has thought about importing a 1z or another 1.9 diesel for a swap into there mk3.
Looking at ebay you can pick up engines for like $700 im sure shipping couldn't run you more then that again. Think it would make a cool project for the misses daily.
cheers

my thoughts exactly, plenty quick enough with an exhaust and a boost up with great fuel use for the misses. Though the problem is finding one in Australia with a decent amount of kms on it. Hence the query regarding importing an engine as engine, particularly vr6 engine, are getting swapped all the time.
no one has looked at whats involved in swapping a 1.9tdi in?
It's crossed my mind briefly (either that or converting my vr6 to LPG). I didnt really look into it but if mk3 TDI's existed in other parts of the world it cannot be that hard a task to convert one to TDI-spec locally.
Try having a look on vortex, theres bound to be some threads on it.

Oli did a conversion back in 06-07 using a donor car that I wrote off.
