    Is this worth buying?

I'm interested in this car. Anyone know it's history or whether it's a good buy?

I saw that car a year or 2 ago and the paint was not very good at that point. Doubt it has improved.

    Overpriced IMO.

For that price range (around $6000) which MK2 GTI doesn't have bad paint? As long as it doesn't have rust.

Nice wheels, body kit and a years rego set it apart from the other MK2's on the market although The Scotsman's 2 litre might also be an option depending on how much work I need to do.

Or I stick with my original plan and put a 1.8 into my Polo but the opportunity to get back into a GTI is a lot more appealing.

    Cheers

Wasnt DVR68U selling his vr6mk2 for 6k. That would be a better buy IMO. If the paint is bad it might just need a good cut an polish but i dont think that it would make to much difference as the car still looks nasty. For 6k i would expect there to be perfect paint though.

Funny how the number of mk2s released keeps droping, 300 to 250 to 200 and now 150 haha.

for that price range I'd be hoping the paint was like a mirror mate, personally i think it looks too much like a done up corolla than a clean gti, better off going for something original without the boyracer look, then some subtle mods to make it abit of a sleeper. but everyone has their own taste

That 'bodykit' is nasty as hell imo. Has he stuck a mk3 front lip under the rear bumper? And what are those door handles?

I just sold my mk2 for $2600 and the paint was fine. For $6000 I'd want something with a lot more than some cheap stuck on bits.

I was in Sydney the other day and briefly saw the blue Golf GTI as we drove past. In the flesh it doesn't look too bad and the paint was good. Someone has resprayed the car.

But you're right, doing up my Polo would be more of a challenge and since finding the UK Polo site I've found lots of pictures of some really good looking 6N's like this one.

I just need to replace my 14 x 6 mags with 15's or 16's, remove all exterior trim and badges and find a decent looking body kit for the front end. Mine already sits this low.

I like this car because it looks hot, isnt too low and wouldn't attract any Police attention. Just how I want my car to be.

    Cheers
