I think lots of factors come into play, including the color of the car!

For your color choice and the small bumpers, I think it would look better WITHOUT the arches and side trims.

But never hurts to mock it up for a look.

I think you can get little rear arch spats for non gti mk2's which would fit on nicely to the front edge of the rear arches. Which could break up the large area of one color with a touch of black.

Dont you have the small bumper GTI trim set? That is the best with the small bumpers IMO.
Do those big bumper type wheel arch covers you got there even fit properly with small bumpers?
It'd be sweet if you could do all small bumper trim, except use the fatter side sill covers/skirts from the big bumpr set...

Just arches, no sidestrips, or as Carl says the CL ones, although they are real hard to get.

hmm, i might need to change my vote. or semi change. lol
in those 2 pics that Bsting chucked up the white one is better without the strips, they make it look a lil cluttered on the red one..
still go with the arches tho

but as jarred suggested a trial fit with pics uploaded for everyone is perhaps the best bet.

Man its all so subjective. Just try some things with the blutac and do what you like the best and forget what other people will or wont like, coz, as you can tell by this thread, we all have our own fav look and you can never please everyone except yourself
...Just dont put the big front splitter with no side trim or it'll look like its got a long goatee

john why not just cut out the clips in the sideskirts and mount them with double sided tape? then its not a permanent decision.
