Should be an 020 on that beast mate, ball and socket under the gearstick , i can get a kit for that ( most common) and there is a bush at the end of the selector rod on a bracket that bolts onto the steering rack. It is available from Dub If you need part numbers chime in mate. Best to set up the gears with VW3104. Im happy to post it to you to borrow if you need it.
    Cheers

4T is the run of the mill 5 Speed.

    3.45, 1.94, 1.29, 0.91, 0.75 FDR 3.67

This is one of the tallest ratio boxes.

6500rpm in 5th should equate to 159 mph on stock tyres

at 70 mph it should be pulling only 2856 rpm on stock tyres

    90mm flanges

    190mm clutch.

Ah yes my bad!!!!! 4T - still there is a ball and socket at the gearstick, common for a sloppy operation and and like i mentioned before there is a bearing bush on the bracket that bolts to the rack, depending on your engine letters some had a 210 mm clutch and like Peter mentioned a 190mm but i was sure the 1.6 had the 190 clutch?????

Thanks Pete. I had a feeling you'd know.

Cheers Jimmy. I'll keep that in mind. I checked under the shifter boot, and it's got a ball and socket down there, with plenty of grease! I'll give you a holler if need be when the time comes.

I wont actually be doing anything on it for a while yet, not till after exams. Then depends how busy I get with christmas work, we'll see what happens. (more money the better! )

I'm thinking I'll defiantly need GTI/G60 arch flares and maybe smoked rear tails. Donno about wheels though. Matt black wheels would be very sleeper though.. hm...
