are you chasing big numbers, or just hoping for some more power?

are they +1 oversize or massively oversize?

Something around a 268/270 is a reasonably mild cam, should give a nice bit of poke without compromising smooth engine idle etc.

268 cam, full exhaust, 2L bottom end and 38/40 valves gives about 150hp at the fly. After 140hp you will need a heavy duty clutch. There is a thread about mk2 2L 8v tuning on ClubGTI, also dyno sheets and some times slips.

there's actually a plethora of ways to modify an 8v. purely depends on budget and goals.

tell us what you're after and then search for it on here or vortex of club gti, and then when you cant find results we'll tell you.

a 270 autotech or techtonics tuning 276. port/polish, (you could look for a k-jet mk2 gti head which has much bigger valves to begin with) and a bit of a skim to bump compression and you'll have a quick little golf with lots of mid-range
