Another MK2 with no heater. You know it's not good for your old bones.![]()
While I sorted out wiring for my 3 gauges setup, this 2 wires just broke after 28 years suffering from engine bay heat. It's a quick fix so didn't bother soldering, just twist short length of new wires and seal it with heat shrink.
compare to these mercedes biodegradable wires, vw wires isn't too bad after 28 years![]()

That's why I love the early Golfs. I can't even adjust the idle on my wife's Passat.
Ticked over 285,000 ks yesterday. That makes 10,000 ks since I bought the MK2 back in mid February.
Removed front axles to replace the tranny output seals...again.

HAHAHA
Cracked my windscreen last night when the bonnet flew up and wrapped itself over the roof.
Not a happy camper.
Holy **** Sports Racer! That can happen??
Did you drive in 120km/hour with bonnet unlatched ?

Oh crud! I guess I better send you some dollars to help with a new windscreen!
Have you got a spare handy?

The 2 bolts that hold the bonnet catch to the bonnet came loose and fell out. Without the catch connected to the bonnet there was nothing stopping the bonnet flying open and wrapping itself over the roof at 100 k's. The catch was still connected to the front panel and I had to pull the bonnet release cable so I could bolt it back to the bonnet. The 2 bolts were floating around on top of the front panel.
What makes it worse is for the past month I've noticed the bonnet was shaking a bit at speed and I never put 2 and 2 together.
The windscreen has lots of cracks, all on the passenger side so I'm in no rush to replace it. I'll just look around for someone with a cheap one.
Because it's a daily driver I expect things to happen. After all, it's a 24 year old car with nearly 300,000 ks on the clock and I'm adding another 3,000 each month. If nothing happened it would be boring.
This makes the 2nd time I've had a bonnet fly open. Last time was nearly 30 years ago on my 1st MK1 Golf.
