Gave the girl a decent wash, vacuum and started to re-black the bumpers and trimming. Topped up the fluids and took her for a nice Sunday drive to the local markets and back.
After driving the family wagon for the last few weeks, it was such a great feeling to be driving the golf again. Even got a few looks.
Gave me a chance to suss out what needs to fixed in the front end re: ballpoints, cv joints and the such.
Took a couple of photos on the phone, but haven't had a chance to download them yet.
Took the bonnet off to straighten it a bit after it got bent over the windscreen when it popped open.
Easiest way was to put it on the ground and stand on it. I got most of the dents out and it's a lot straighter but now it looks a bit like an old metal garbage bin that's been run over a few times.
Might have to invest in a panel beater before GAD.
That sucks ,pretty scary bonnet flying open ! what's GAD ?
Not too scary, you can still see the road through the vents at the bottom of the (open) bonnet.
GAD is the German Autofest Day
When: Sep 20 – 21, 2014
Where: Canberra
Description
Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st: Canberra German Autofest.
Saturday afternoon cruise and sausage sizzle. Sunday is German car show. Lots of flash Mercs, BMW's, Porsche's and of course VW's.
The guys from Melbourne and Sydney come to this one to meet. With a bit of luck (and pushing) we should get lots of MK2's.
Cool , I can aim to have mine there next year , sadly it will be just a pile of nuts and bolts for a few months yet .
GAD sounds awesome.
Might have to look into possibilities of a road trip :)
Come down with crappy wheels, go home with BBS's. :-D
;)
I was thinking that too
Come on down and I'll show you the difference between a 1.8L and 2L motor. And bigger (MK3) brakes and decent door handles and all the other stuff that makes mine better than yours. :-)
