Yeah man, MK2 A/C is the bomb

Before you all laugh and say that i just wasted money, I must say i'm pleasantly surprised with the result.
I thought I would give my MK2 air con one more crack before summer has fully set in.
I took the car a few months ago to a air con specialist and he told me that it might cost up to $1500 bucks to test the system and replace the needed parts! (I think he just didn't want the job)
Not having that sort of money lying around I carefully queried him on what he thought the problem might be. He said that he could see instantly that the line that ran near the radiator definitely had a leak and would have to be repaired or replaced. He also said that I would need the system retro fitted for with new valves and new refrigerant, r12 to r134a.
I thanked him for his time and told him I would think about it.
I then went online and ordered the needed line, some new o-rings and a new receiver drier. Photos below:
I fitted them and took my car to a recommended air con specialist. He sucked out all the old refrigerant and oil and recharged it with the new stuff.
The result has been amazing! I have it on the lowest setting with all the windows up and it is icy cold! Today it was about 30 outside and it was nice and comfortable inside! I'm glad that I did it and all up it only put me out of pocket about $370.00 which is a small price to pay for my dark mistress lol

can i ask where online you got your parts?
cheers
I didn't need any parts, just got it leak tested and regassed.
Hey Mate,
I got the receiver dryer, air con o-rings seals from FCP euro and I got the upper air con line from eBay. If you need the part numbers let me know. FCP seems to have great prices and the delivery is pretty quick. I order from them pretty regularly.
Let me know if you need any further info or help
