just a quick Q - is it necessary to change the suspension to the wide track? or can it be left mk2 4 stud gear?

also whats involved if a late model vr6 is used? in regards to the coded key and ecu?

    hi mate
no all you need is the mk3 vr6 subframe and then you put the mk2 steering rack on to it and then you change the mk3 wishbone to mk2 wishbone and then use the mk2 hubs or g60 if you want 280mm discs and use mk2 8v driveshaft as for the suspension use a good set off coilover.
with the wiring it is just the same but there are a few bits that are differant but i will found out just in the middle off my mk2 vr6 conversion

The way Lenzo is describing will keep it skinny track, like a Mk2.
I`d go widetrack and use the VR6 spec track for extra stability.

    hi
i have done the cable shifter there is not much work involved all you need to do is remove the mk2 one then get a mk3 or a corrado shifter, then take the shifter you will need to line it up from underneath and drill new holes then it is just the case of bolting it up.
    the parts you will require
    corrado or passat pedal box
    subframe from vr6
cross member from passat or corrado
    corrado vr6 radiator
anything else you need to know just ask

forgive my ignorance, but i thought you just used all the mk3 vr6 gear?

and what does the cable shift conversion do exactly?

you have to use the vr6 box which is cable shift. so you have to swap your shifter for a cable shift so you can use the gbox. you just use all the vr6 gear, its pretty easy.

    hi
if you go for the mk3 running gear you can use every thing apart from the pedal box, front crossmember, rad. if you let me know the route you are going to take i can tell you more.

ok basically the way things have gone down i have a 1991 gti auto, the ex gf fried it pretty badly a while back, and i have been waiting for it to **** itself.

i reckon the time is getting pretty close, and i want to put in the VR6 running gear. my radiator is pretty rooted so i was hoping i could use all the vr6 stuff.. pretty much from radiator back to the shifter.

ofcourse i still need to source the donor vr6, i just want to know what im in for so touch wood, it can be a smooth conversion
