Not long ago there was a mk2 8v turbo with 130 or 140 something kwatw post here.

I dont think it would take as much work to get a vr to put down 140kwatw would it? And if you are going to start pouring money in to it you can make alot more power than any 4 banger VW motor. Like they say, there is no replacement for displacement.

well the difficulty is, you're at the same crossroad as any mk3 guy who wants power out of his vr. forced induction is "no less than 5 grand" proposition and headwork and new cams would take lots of money to net you 140kw.

hey matt, what's it like compared to dave's cupra?

    WTF you smoking?

With a Stage 2 SC kit from VF you would be able to make that kind of power I reckon. Turbo I reckon alot more!

VF stage two would probably cost around that much anyway, but you wouldn't need new cams and headwork, its a bolt on application!

my mk2 was never built to be a all out drag car, otherwise i would have tiny little brakes and wheels, and kept all the stuff to a complete minimum. it would absolutely smash all stock and mildly modded mk2's, but i wanted to build it to be a nice driver with the motor that i love. i can just cruze around in 5th gear and it pulls great. and when you look at the car it looks like a early 90's car. sure i can build it to be faster with FI or other stuff but it comes to the point where it looses its ablity to be a great daily. ive got my open bike lic and if i wanted to do " 10's all day bro" i would just buy a 1000cc roadbike. but there really isnt much point these days.
all in all i would reccomend this conversion,
and im not dissapointed at all, and its always nice to drive something you built from scratch. (got the car as a rolling shell)
