    VAG Dealership Servicing

Hey i dont know if this is the right section but anyway.
I just rang up Volkwagen Service centre at Five Dock and they said that they will service my car.

Just trying to see if anyone else has had their car serviced by the VW Service centres and if they are expensive

    Is it a Golf 2?

    Probably could be expensive. Ask!

I reckon with an older car its better to look at stuff that needs fixing and address those issues, rather than just changing filters and plugs which may be fine anyway.

Also VW use genuine parts for everything and charge top whack for labour time. Aftermarket parts can be had which are as good as standard, but not as expensive.

I disagree. Genuine parts 99% of the time are better and sometimes they are cheaper.

Another thing is, how many VW dealers have ever worked on a Golf 2?

Buy your filters, plugs etc from a dealer, who will give you the correct ones and take it to a VW specialist mechanic who has worked on old Golfs.

Dont buy anything from a generic parts shop (Repco, Auto One etc).

Don't buy any parts from Brazil, even if they have a German brand name.

You bought a Golf, keep it a Golf.

Five dock has a good reputation, so I can't see them damaging anything.
Just may be more expensive than alternatives.

I'm with you on this one Loon. My experience is that most after market parts that I have used are made by the same company that makes the OEM.

Example: 2 new Brembo VR6 288mm front brake rotors for $180.00 (some years back now). VW wanted over $300.00 each.
2001 Bora 4 Motion Sport now used by number two son
2011 Skoda Octavia Scout now with Underground Performance tune
2010 Jetta 125 tdi dsg for the misses - Impressed
2006 Polo GTI - Enhanced by some of Gav's magic - Absolutely loving it
