Tyre size for a 16x8 rim

What's the proper tyre size for a 16" rim? I think I'm running a too small a tyre.

I absolutely hate the stretch look and think it's over rated. I prefer a proper, squared off tyre and rim.

    Any ideas?

a 205 will stretch a lil bit on an 8" rim. Will vary from brand to brand. Also a lot of the 205 tyres legally support a max rim width of 7.5".

absolutely hate? hahaha. well, it takes all sorts i guess.

i agree with tim, 205's will be good. any bigger and you'll be over tyred, so to speak - but i would run a 205/45. the 45 series will take the width a bit easier.

heres a pic of the tyres on my VR6. Both tyres have a slightly different profile with one having a bigger rim protector. And whilst you wouldnt call it "Stretched" the sidewall of the tyres is more \_/ than (_). That is mostly because of the rim protector though which the above tyres dont seem to have

215-225 are the more appropriate sizes for an 8" wide wheel

Its a hard call! As i indicated in my first post I think a 205 is probly a bit too small.. But how wide can you go before you start scrubbing badly on an 8" rim. That has to be another concern surely.

also, 215/40 or 215/45 are very uncommon in 16"

most common size in that range is 205/45. if you have 205/40, go up to /45 and you'll see a little less stretch and the tyres are a little bigger anyway.
