You could do the fuel pressure regulator plumbed in with the turbo, but get a rising rate one like the malpasi designed for turbo boost. It wouldn't be as acurate as an aftermarket computer but with low boost and adjusted on a dyno with a exhaust gas analyser messuring your air fuel ratio it might be ok....

well i have seen people run turbos on their cars with everything stock, you can do it, with only minor configurations, but the question always is how long will it last.
a head gasket reduction plate costs about 50 bucks at max and if you change your fuel pressure to push in a bit more you can perfectly run a trubo with not many mods, besides the BOV and Intercooler.
I have seen alot of Mk2's run turbos and superchargers with everything stock, just pumped the fuel pressure up a bit to deliver the fuel and it works just fine, but like said, for how long?
130k km is nothing really, my engine that i just took apart had 224k km's o it and it was perfect like new. not a single mm out (0.01mm out to be exact) in wear and tear, no oil clogs or oil leaks, everyhting looked like it was new from day 1.
100k km's is classified as a perfectly run in engine on the older cars. i.e perfect for tuning.
for me, im still rebuilding my golf right now for a full supercharged conversion with the max settings for everything. (wanting to run 35-40psi boost)
have everything for it except a crank.
thing is on hold atm because of funds.
but anyways you could just bolt on a turbo with no hassles and minimum work.

    cheers

I got a set of G60 injectors here if you need them.

    Cheers for the replies guys!

@ Jean- Yeah thats what i thought too, heaps of ppl are running their mk2´s with just a FPR and some new injectors. What you wrote is what i thought too at first, add more fuel, add iintercooler and bov....

I am not sure yet about a full time job next year so i will start with the build once i have more info on that. In the meantime i have bought a g60 manifold and downpipe to replace the tiny stock one and see what sort of power i get from that. Might supercharge it insetad of turbo but we will see what happens... I could run a little m45 off a cooper without too much engine work right? Thanks for the help again!

    Cheers, Stefan

haha, thats my exact setup, m45 from cooper onto mine. Just mine is a complete build with forged pistons etc. And running at close to 2.5bar boost on 8:1 compression

That sounds awesome jeanheide! My mk2 ran stock internals on 14psi for years making 138 kw atw's till i did a head gasket and thought its time for a full rebuild.. That was with 10:1 compression aswell but an aftermarket computer instead.
