I ordered the stuff last night, but not the front lip, mine is alright for now.
So what is shipping like? Better than Arizona Autohaus?

No idea actually, they haven't packed and weighed it yet, so until then I'm in the dark.

However they do say that they only charge the actual cost, no packaging or labour cost on top.

Never heard of Arizona Autohaus, I might check out their website.

Well I am in the same stage of order. We could combine shipping b/c I am only getting an Air Filter and Wiper stalk. That wouldn't be much from QLD.

PM me when you get your estimate?

New gear knob came this morning at 8:15, so I got up an hour earlier than usual just to put it on.

edit: And I got an email from German Auto Parts saying that my order of a timing belt cover, antenna system and oil dip stick top came to AU$50, with postage being $50 as well!! Bit excessive I thought, any idea if I can get these parts locally?

Got my box of stuff from GAP this afternoon. Oil dip stick top, timing belt cover, aerial, as well as a K&N air filter which I'm going to try out, and a right wiper switch stalk, which was a mistake and I might either sell or keep.

Currently at uni, but will install it all tomorrow morning and see how it all goes.

Unfortunately my coilovers didn't come today, and due to the long weekend I might have to wait until Tuesday.

Also, should I do something about the fact the exhaust has no cat? I was reading up on some old posts and someone said this is bad? Everyone else I talk to says cats are just there for emission standards and the UK mk2 gti's didn't have them. Please fill me in!

Coilovers should be coming tomorrow, going to try installing them myself with the help of some mates. Anything we need to know? Are there any instructions for mk2s on the net in regards to adjusting this or that, or is it just a straight swap?

Really new to this, so any info is good!

Thanks for the link. They mention spring compressors a few times. I don't have this item, is it definitely needed?

Well you will only need them if you want to re-use your top-mounts. You can take them off without a springs compressor but i personally wouldnt try it. They are only 40 bucks or so for a pair from supercheap so well worth it..

    Hi All,
Do not try to remove the springs from the old shock without a spring compressor! They are under a large/massive amount of pressure. I have seen a spring compressor slip off a spring under pressure and it could have killed somebody. Mechanic was very lucky.

Get new top mount bushes also and have a think about doing the lower control arm bushes too as these will be quite old most likley (will make your steering sharper).
You would need a press to push them out. Take the arms to a mechanic and he can push out the old ones and push the new ones in for you.

    Hope this helps.

    R,

    Simon
