I'd be keen to come along too, pending availability.

My gearbox is not as smooth as I'd like it to be. Pretty notchy changes, and have to use a bit of force to get it into first while rolling.

Would a gearbox oil change fix this, or does it need a bit more attention?

I can live with it how it is, but it could be better I think.

On another note, drove mum's Forester last night for the first time since getting my license. Gave it a nice thrash round a few streets, awd is so much nicer to handle with the foot planted, the steering wheel doesn't struggle in your hand or anything. Gear changes were also very nice, especially with the clutch "reach" being half the length of mine. Is there any way to shorten how far I have to push the clutch in lol???

I would recommend that you don't change into first, except when the car is stationary. It's a sure fire way to damage the syncros.

Is your clutch pedal sitting above the brake pedal by about an inch. Meaning you have to lift your foot up a long way to get onto the pedal to use it?

This would be a sign that the plastic clutch stop has broken and is now missing. They cost next to nothing from the dealers and correct the pedal height issue.

As said picking up first while moving is no god for your syncros. When I did a gearbox oil change and greased the shift linkages selecting gear was much much smoother!

You're very lucky dude. Glad to hear you didn't get hurt. You can buy a new car.. You can't buy a new life.
