    4agze supercharger, Aftermarket ecu, make a bracket to mount the supercharger, some piping etc...Prolly the cheapest way to supercharge it, but still looking at around 4-5g...unless you have the facilities to do it your self....

    Will be possibly doing that but with a 16v in my driver some time after ive finnished with the GTI.

    a vr6 is still only about 128kw..( at the fly wheel )
    16v really is the way to go. a true VW performance engine....and......REVS

    posting here though i am merely a mk1 driver, i had looked into supercharging the 2E in my mk1 a fair while back and while it would have hammered a bit more it burns more of a hole in the pocket than anything,
    the expenses mount up fairly quickly even when you supply the main parts.
    (still have some bloody parts sitting in the shed, i was rather close to getting it done but pulled out for other 'rarer' reasons)

    if you were doing it all yourself then it wouldnt be so bad but at the same time there are other engine options to achieve better power results (as has been stated in other posts in here)

    A 1ggze charger would be better as its off a 2l 6cylinder motor, the 4agze is 1.6l. The problem with these chargers is that they are early 90's technology and are getting old, and they have a limit of something like 16psi. Any higher and the bearings wont take it, but granted they are fairly cheap at ~400-500.

    Just for interest sake, BBM has stopped selling their lyshom superchargers as their manufacturer opcon has stopped making them. They do have something in the plans tho so time will tell what it is.

    Who seriously is going to charge an 8v motor over 16psi on a budget anyway??? going that high...you need forge pistons etc..may aswell get a 20v.......
    thought we were talking budget power???? takes more to get the 1ggze charger going..zaping power to make more...and for 1.6 to 2.0 the 4agze charger would be fine...

    $2.5K go 16v screamer. $5K go basic 1.8t. Any less don't expect much, any more welcome to 24psi+

    no serious now - people seem to be throwing around thousands of dollars here in the air, suggesting engine swaps and what not... but how many of us here have actually ever done that through to re-rego-ing and driving the car, huh?

    regardless "how much more power a 16V will get you" or whatever, if you want to chuck a supercharger on it and see what happens, why not? more to the point, a kit option is always attractive.

    i think its more about trying things out and having something different.

    look on some overseas forums for kit options, google wont always find the right thing.... and sometimes you can even pick up some new old stock, or kits people have bought but have had sitting in the shed in the box for years...

    never know, you might just find the right thing to make a very individual, interesting upgrade that people will be surprised about.
