    Superchargers for Mk2 Golf 8V Digifant

    Hey guys, I have been searching for idea's on how to upgrade my MkII golf 1990 model and have struggled with the idea of an engine conversion because of the cost. I recently came across a supercharge kit from bahn brenner. I came up with some questions and would hugely appreciate any sort of answers.

    1) Has anyone fitted a supercharger to their MkII golfs?
    2) If so how does it rate against other golfs and makes?
    3) Is it a viable option cash and power wise?

    you are looking at over 4k once you get it over here, so it isn't that cheap.

    For that sort of money you could keep the car n/a and probably get similar power.

    They do look like very nice kits though as they come with everything you need. But for the price you could easilly get a 16v and run it on digi as i was looking to do. You will have similar power and they are capable of alot more power also.

    Once you get it here, it'd probably be close to 5K the way the dollar is going!

    150BHP is reasonably achievable with the old 8V, very easily achievable with a 16V.

    You'd probably come off a bit cheaper with a 16V.

    Depends how much more you can get out of the SC kit. While the kit looks very good, which should make for easier intall (etc) bang for you buck value isn't very high IMO. Unless you can get an extra 30HP with a cam and exhaust (for example)

    Perhaps you should email BBM about power upgrades, ie, high boost, cam, tuning etc. they should know best, since it's thier kit afterall...

    if you go with forged internals, rods rings pistons, you can run much higher boost without worrying about something melting. there's a guy on vortex who supercharged his 8v digi jetta, except he ran an aftermarket ecu, forged internals and a charge cooler. made about 200 hp though.. forced induction on dubs in australia is always very expensive..

    is that all? Not very much at all. Think of the money he would have spent too.

    Better power out of a turbo in this case I reckon

    What about a 1.8T running Haltec? It'd cost around the same and produce the same HP more reliably.

    the thing with running different motors is engine loom. if you go forced induction, you only really have to worry about fueling. everything else is relatively retained. whereas going to 20v, it all becomes a lot more complex, well at least for me.

    20V 1.8T would cost close to 10K once everything is done and produce more power, in stock form.

    Oh c'mon, 2k for the motor, 1k for install and 2k for the ECU, thats 5k. We're talking just about a swap here, not including everything that should be done at the same time like clutch, diff etc.

    To do it properly it would take 10k yes I agree with you on that.

    what about an upgrade such as :
    Mk2 Golf/Jetta 8.5 or 10.0 Compression 2.0L upgrade 8V stroker Short Block

    would i be able to make the conversion easily, what sort of problems may occur ?
