What was the noise? Was it mechanical or a warning tone?
Never heard of that before, probably just a Mk2 being a MK2!
Was doing a 3 point turn today in a bit of a hurry, put it into reverse and all of a sudden this warning noise came on with the oil light?
Was a wierd noise took me a second to figure it out actually...
Checked my oil, turned the car off, checked for oil leaks...nothin!
Started it up and drove fine again, no random screetching/oil light.
Just a bug or what?

If its the sound I am thinking of, I used to get it when doing runs through the twisties. From what I understand its oil moving its way around the sump, basically 'swishes' up one side of the sump leaving the oil detector with no surrounding oil hence the alarm.
Can be solved with an oil sump baffle plate if it what i think.
Yeh was a like a warning noise...thought it was a pipe hissing or something to start with then noticed the light! Was a pretty old school electronic noise....
Yeh I thought it might be something like the oil slid back to fast and and tripped some sensor, but really...I should just commit and read the PDF I downloaded and I may actaully start to learn more about this car.
Apart from that car runs really well, sounds great and is a ****load of fun.
Looking into doing rear wheel bearings at my mates place, he builds bikes/scooters so he has tools...should be interesting by the looks of things.
Yeah its been awhile, but if memory serves I think it was predominately right hand turns. Got a baffle plate being put in at the momment, (simple home DIY, but was getting some other word done :p) so once I have had a chance to get a few runs in I will let you know.
