You could only determine that by refitting a standard computer or chip. What makes you think it's slower? Do you know the story with the chip or can you find out?

from my exp. it will be making your car slower. take it out and get a standard one or a tuned up one from a reputable UK tuning company.

If this is an Aussie delivered GTI I doubt the UK could help. The advent of the 1.8T has killed off this kind of tuning.

No, all Aussie mk2 GTI's are like that P
I am changing the chip in mine for a ebay one (god knows if it will make it any better) but you can try my old standard one if you like when i get it out

search for threads about VW_pilot on Vortex, he is the best for chips, cheap as chips also and very reputable. I have one in my 16V and it is definitely an improvement!

Google will bring you heaps of info.
