I thought all Mk2 steering wheel are large spline size, but just found out my 86 SA Mk2 are small spline so I can fit a Mk1 GTI 4 button steering wheel. Simpliest way is just pull your existing steering wheel out and check its spline size.
Looking at buying a new wheel. I've found a MK1 wheel & a porsche wheel for cheap but just wondering if they'd fit an early MK2?

Yup, early Mk2 before 87 is the small spline, later ones are the large size, but the adaptor exists to make a big into a small.
Most large spline wheels have an airbag, which you dont want in a mk1 or 2.

I was looking at either this style from a 1986 911;
or this from a MK1;
That porsche one looks pretty nice!
as above is said, just make sure the spline is correct with your car.
After a bit of research. Porsche 924/944 wheels will fit straight on to either an early (pre '87) MK2 or MK1.
911 wheels have a bigger spline and won't fit. So the search is on for a brown 924/944 wheel.
