Bloody hell! Looks like i might be exporting my golf, If I can find the funds first. The shipping company says if i can get all my stuff into the car, then I'll save on shipping costs. Only have to ship a car, not the boxes!

    Result!

just need to get my leathers in and away we go!!!!

Velly Mate, when I first arrived in OZ, I purchased a 2007 lancer, drove it for a year, hated it, so so boring.

Cut a long story short, sold it, brought the cab and I am in driving heaven.

There is no love where a lancer is concerned..

Here is another reason why you should bring your car over.

That car would be worth less that 100 pounds back in England.

It also depends where you are gonna live. I live in QLD and there are very few cars to be found up here. There have been 2 Gti's for sale in the two and a half years i've lived here, both were 5 doors. It's not such a problem in the southern states.

If you can, bring it over.

Just make sure you get import approval from Australian Dept of Transport BEFORE you ship it out. You shouldn't have any trouble qualifying if the car is pre 1989 or you've owned it for 12 months in UK AND lived there for the whole 12 months. Also be careful about packing your stuff in the car as if you don't get import approval customs can't open the car and therefore can't let you get your gear out. There's a few things you need to know but just contact Dept of Transport and Customs and they should be able to tell you all you need to know.
