Rear Engine mount questions

Driving the MK2 around latly, I seem to notice, what feel likes, increasing amounts of engine movement.
Is a 4 door 92 MK2 with a 2E engine, which has had the front and rear transmission mounts replaced.

Had a look at the rear engine mount set-up and confused myself in the process

I cant say Ive seen a set-up like that before, a gas strut of some-sort 'assisting' the non hydraulic (assuming its non hydraulic) engine mount?

Query 1 : Is that set-up, with the strut, OEM?
Query 2 : Does that appear to be a Non hydraulic engine mount?
Query 3 : Any suggestion on where/what engine mounts to buy (OEM, or stiffer)

Hmmm, ok, well for starters, if it truly is a 2E 2ltr (with the aluminium rocker cover), then its had an engine conversion at some stage coz mk2's never came with a 2.0ltr 8v engine anywhere... but you probably know that already.

I have seen that mount setup before but have only come across it in the mk3/4 Cabriolet's from memory???

You should be able to fit a standard golf 2/3 rear engine mount as they are the same part for the 1.8 and 2.0 (except some cabrio's of course) and the brackets are the same too i believe.

Chime in anyone if i'm wrong...

Most deffinantly is a 2E (with the alloy MK3 rocker cover), and according to the log books, its been in there since 1992

Going off feedback on a Pommy forum, ETKA referance's a similar set-up, with the damper, on PL and KR valvers.

I think the MK3 (2.0L) rear mounts are hydraulic whilst MK2's used a combination of hydraulic and non-hydraulic rubber mounts.

I beleive the rear mount in my car currently, is the non-hydraulic type which uses differant brackets.
Hydro mounts vertically, whilst the non hydraulic mount sits horizontal with the bolt going through it.

But I could be completely wrong too.

Your right, I can swap over a later hydraulic mount set-up by removing 1 of the brackets that allows the use of a non hydraulic mount.
