    Radiator Size

    I need a new radiator but i am massivley confused about the size i need. I originally bought a 430mm radiator because that is the size quoted on every parts website for my engine but it's too small. Meaning i have an upgraded rad.

    Now the problem is I don't know what size it is or what car it's from, I'm guessing it's from a GTI but not sure.

    The only other sizes a MK2 radiator come in are 525mm or 675mm (for cars with air con) i have measured the core of my rad and it's neither size??? I measured the core at 480mm;

    and the total width at 625mm...
    The rad from other angles;

    I've been told it has been previously repaired & can't be repaired again as it's buggered. Summer is coming so i need to replace it for those 30+ days.

    Any ideas as to what it's from or the correct size i need? All help is greatly appreciated as i am proper confused.

    Looks like some previous owner has swapped in a Mk1 480 mm side fill radiator. You will want at least a 525 ( core length) and prob add the coolant expansion bottle. Check out the metal water pipe that goes around the end of the head, likely a blanked of outlet where the hose to the missing coolant bottle attaches.

    Lower pic shows the top hose deflecting slightly cause of the incorrect radiator.
    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

    If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

    Cheers,

    Is your car an Aussie GTI? If so, it should have the Aussie spec radiator 191 121 251C which is actually the same size as the Euro G60 radiator, except the outlets are on the other side.
    The size is 675x322x34 and hsy can sell ya one in a BEHR.
    Grant is correct though, that one you have there is a mk1 radiator!!

    525 radiator , you may have to weld some extension tabs onto the fan cowling as per the same deal the factory did. Can get pics if required but will be friday.
