    I'm back up and running!
kind of……… Having a few issues with the idle game as well engine mounts are 100% shot and seeming to cause the engine to be skewed and it appears the down pipe is almost/is resting on the front sway bar. Anyone have some spares? Otherwise vwheritage will be getting my business.
Now I'm wondering if anyone out in this great community has a spare or knows where to go to for an O2/Lambda sensor? Have found a few on Ebay and quite exxy in price. It's being a bit temperamental on start up cold and when coming to a stop it briefly cuts out a bit. I have the blue temp sensor on its way and the other thing could be the idle control valve? But they seem to be quite expensive too!

Gave it a good clean and the gross under bonnet mess is now gone after a whole lot of cut and polish
Hopefully going to lower a bit more soon, so damn keen to get it to 100%!

Try cleaning your ISV/ICV (Idle control valve) they can get dirty.
    Then follow this thread.

Whenever my MK2 goes full retard (every year or two) i just do the above things and then its all sweet.

That's only because you've got a white MK2. If it was black we'd keep telling you to fix it.

    Just joking Locky. Honest.

Bit more progress has been made. Bought a whole lot of cleaning stuff and cleaned the ICV and MAF. So far running pretty well only thing being still a little wobbly on cold start. Idles great but just dies out with the battery light being a bit illuminated. So thinking the alternator could be on the way out or have read the brushes in it?
Anyways have also cleaned up the gross mess which was on the underside of the hood and put in a new blue temp sender and a ram air intake which i nabbed off Ebay for $30. Spruces engine up a little bit and makes it sound a bit better, definitely no performance enhancement was in mind for it haha
Lowered the rear a further 10mm just to try eliminate that tyre gap, has come up looking great! Just have to embrace some scrub.

Heres some photo's so enjoy, the more i look at this thing the more i love it.

To check the alternator just throw a multimeter on the battery terminals when the car's running.
    Should be around 13.5volts (ish).
The regulator/brushes are easily replaceable (2 screws) comes out as one piece.
Replace the blue temp sensor yet?

Yep have replaced the blue temp sender and still notice my flashing coolant light comes on even though its running what appears to be very cool? Does not go past the second bar on the gauge.
Have checked the alternator voltage and pretty sure thats what it shows. I will check again and post what i find though.
Being a little bit confusing thats for sure.. Leaning towards maybe biting the bullet and getting a new ICV though being $200+..
