    Power?

Just want to get a rough idea of how hard it would be to get about 150hp out of my digi 8v.

I was thinkin later down the track, (more of a dream realy):
    Chip
    2L bottom end
    Full exhaust
maybe port and polish da head with biger valves and different cam

    bigger injectors? throttle body??

What do you think?.... Im unsure how hard it is to reach 150hp.

Head work for sure with big valves, do a 1900 bottom end, the 2 litre doesn't rev too good. I know cos I did one myself a few years back and it wasn't a patch on the previously fitted 1800.

Cam and vernier, 285 for a road motor and longer for more track bias.

    Headers.

Chip to get the fuelling correct.

    My 1800 did 177 at the crank on K-jetronic. 166 as a 2 litre.

Bore it out to 1900? What does that cost. I have to change the cylidners dont I?

    vernier?

Where can i get a chip from? Im guessing an ebay chip wont do.

What did it cost you, roughly, to get that 177hp?

Oh and how was it on reliability?

you can these TT chips froms bahn brenner $100 US
    http://www.bahnbrenner.com/vw_audi/P...igifant_2.html

Imagine they would be better than the ebay powertech chips, but can't say for sure.

One thing i am doign that will help you is changing the afm to a bmw unit. My mate has one im trying to get off him. They're off of a 3.5 litre 6 cylinder bmw engines. You just need to loosen the spring rate on the flap 7-8 clicks and it's good to go.
BMW AFM vs VW AFM Size comparison

    The Door measurements:
    VW AFM 2" H x 2 1/16"th W /50mm H x 52mm W
    BMW AFM 2 9/16"th H x 2" W /65mm H x 50mm W
    Inlet Sizes:
See Door Measurement for VW AFM
BMW AFM 3" or 75mm in Diameter
    Outlet Sizes:
VW AFM 2 9/16"th or 65mm in Diameter
BMW AFM 3" or 75mm in Diameter
This is the Inlet Ring that comes with the BMW AFM, so you don't have to deal with using round hose on a square hole.

    Hi static,
did you trade your ebay chip for a techtonics
the bahn brenner one in the link is for digi 2 ?????????

& do you know if there is any difference in the 325i afm compared to the 325e

the 325i revs a lot harder & is faster than the 325e, but the e seems to have much moer torque

thats what the poor fools who drive them say!!!!!

No I didn't trade it, i have been curious about them though.

BMW used the same afm on some of their 4 cylinder models which are the same as the VW units or very similar. Don't know the difference just know i want one of those big bmw units

Need to bug my mate more and i will put somethign up on the forum when i install it.

Are u dead set on keeping the 8v? Stock 16V ABF is supposed to be about 150HP and would be bang for buck IMO. The 9A is also a good baseline which is what ill be working with. My plan is:

    Cams
    Cam gear
    ITB
    Standalone ECU
    Exhaust
    Mild port + polish work

Hoping for 170HP in my mk3

It should be easy to get 1 & affordable, there are heaps of those BMW's starting to to get wrecked atm
I have heard they help the ol digi' a lot !,

I think it would be cheaper to put a 16v in, than build up a 8v overall though

Have you got a thread on your kr?

I am thinking of doing the same, it will be the next job when I get my girling 60 brakes sorted out

my new 16' simmons wont handle the 280mm calipers ( i hate that)

ABF is probably the best 16v, but really hard to get & will always cost more

why not go all the way & consider a vr6, because once you start spending money on head work you will be in the same cost area, with the better part of 200hp

Its something about the 16V and how they are rare as bat poop that gets me excited. A VR6 in a mk3 is nothing since they came like that factory but in a mk2 would be worth considering if the budget stretches that far
