Possible seized calipers on MKII- Help!!!

Tried to pull up way to quickly the other day and discovered very little braking what so ever, within inches of a tow bar go through the front bumper !!

Today took of old pads and noticed that the old pads still have quite a lot of life left so had a look at the fluid, all good.

Tried to re install the calipers with the new pads and cant budge the pistons on either side one bit.

THe car had been sitting un-used for over 6 months and doesn't get a lot of ' lately

Searching the shed for a caliper reverser but had no luck!!

Any tips? Are my calipers shot?

I`d see if you have fluid to the calipers by undooing the line before the caliper and checking that you have fluid.

If you have fluid into the calipers and they are not working. The problem is internal.

For the same money as rebuilding Mk2 calipers, I would just get hubs and brakes off a Mk3 Golf and bolt em straight onto your Mk2 as a great upgrade.

I did undo one of the bleeding nipples and noticed that no fluid came out.

Now that dad is home I will get him to help me and we can test if the fluid is moving at all.

Might also do a full brake line bleed and put in some new fluid.

You wouldnt happen to be talking about the rear brakes would you because you need to push the caliper in and turn it i think clockwise to reset the caliper piston. And yeh its cheaper getting either second hand or brand new calipers than to bother with getting them rebuilt.

Pity your in the goldcoast, i have a pair of front brakes from a mk3 sitting doing nothing...

I got new ones, but I think one's fubar as no fluid comes out, PLUS I bought them in the UK so no warranty now!

Found the problem, helped having two people working on it at once

Looks like it was a combination of old fluid and lots of air in the lines!!.

Looks like the MkII calipers shall remain for a little while longer.
