Well, to be honest I "outsourced" the problem and had the suspension work done along with an engine service.....need to get it registered and on the road so I didnt have the time to do it myself and I really dont have the equipment needed to have done the bushes etc.

    - Door handles, gaskets, windscreen wipers and tail gate shocks from GAP

    - Rear badge from eBay

    - Leather gear shift boot from eBay

    - 2 window rubbers from eBay UK to replace the rotted out ones

    - Front indicator lenses (new repro) from Golf Loon

Im already at the point that I don't want to keep receipts, the numbers soon add up.......you have to be mad to keep an old car on the road, but then Im preaching to the converted....

Once I get it on the road im going to take it easy for a while. Major tasks that need attention are 3 new plastic wheel arch flairs, a new dash (or a reskin of the old one) and a new front bumper/chin spoiler....

    Wow dude. I'm impressed.

How's it go with the Bilsteins compared to the original stuff?

Mate, it drives like a new car; between the new shocks, tyres, control arm bushes, tierod ends and the alignment, its like night and day

The Bilsteins are firmer than the stock shocks not to mention the old ones being 20 years old factory installs.........

    So you kept the springs?

Yeah tyres made a BIG difference for us. I have no idea if our tierod ends and bushes are worn.

How sitff are Bilsteins? Like MK5 GTI stiff? I ask b/c I know that Bilsteins can be notoriously stiff.
