Moostin.. On both your cars can you; looking In the boot, check out the rear body panel where the vw badge should be. Can you see a bulge from the inside in the '84, Or is it dead flat??

Can't believe i forgot they were like that! As i said it was a one-peice window time change ('8.
Still, i've never seen side mouldings like on that SA Mk2.
Are they SA example ? Walshydub
My Mk2 is 86 South Africa model, it has VW badge in middle and GTI badge on the right. Forget about the big bumper, I know you hate them

Mine has no dimple in the middle, (84 GTI)It's all smooth.
In terms of moulds- That's the early side moulding. They attach with double sided tape instead of push locks into the panel. The vinyl striping was standard on all early golfs, but mopst are removed when they peel. There is also a sill stripe that some came with.
Strangely it still has the boot glass decal.
Bumpers- It looks like it's missing teh stripe all together.
The grey/silver or black stripe was only ever on small bumpers.. My Helios blue '89 originally had a grey/silver stripe. Red, white cars had the black stripe. And black cars came with nil.
Also early stick on side strips sat below the crease in the doors?? Where as the later clip on ones join on top of the crease
