Any plans to extend the cage so that it ties in the front suspension towers? You've got it across the rear arches which has to help stiffen things at the back but nothing at the front.

Hey Paul, yeah i thought about doing that but ive got a front strut brace to help and i only went a bolt in cage given the frequency of its use being twice a year at this stage. U reckon it would aid?

It would help but you're probably looking at a poofteenth of a second per lap. For a serious all out racer with rock hard suspension it would make more difference.

Cheers mate. On another note, the car is getting a cam gear and timing adjustment to give more top end. A tune up and a new shift kit. Should feel a whole lot better on the track after that. Im considering a 2L abf engine conversion in the distant future

Did you ditch the power steering to reduce weight? If you did, how heavy is the steering?

I'm thinking of getting rid of mine but I don't know how hard it will be to steer or if the Golf really needs it.
