    My golf has a leak...

looks like my golf has a leak, after the heavy rain on friday the passenger footwell was 2" deep in water. Today in the rain I sat in the car a watched for any leaks, water began to drip then run down from behind the heater box. Is there a drain hole on the scuttle that I should be looking for to unblock?

The water should drain out of both sides of the scuttle panel (aussies call it a raintray) check its not full of leaves and crap.

Also I dont think you car has the plastic cover to divert rain, so check the middle of the rain tray under the bonnet vents for missing grommets and rusty holes.

I had the same problem a little while ago.
Do you have the Plastic tray that fits along the back of the engine bay????
Mine was water actually finding its way into the heater pick up. Generaly when i was parked pointing up hill it would drip water out the bottom of the heater. I made up a cover out of an old oil container with a large slot in one side and put it over the heater inlet with slot facing back ( to let air in still).
seems to have worked fine ( so far) lol.

no plastic tray and by doing a very difficult and scientific experiment (pooring a bottle of water around the scuttle) it is water getting in through the heater inlet thingy.... will make a cover up soon. Thanks for helping!

    Talking about leaks........

    Hi Guy's,
having been away over xmas I got back into the car to find the boot full of water. It looks as though it may be coming in around the rear lights, but any other suggestions would be a great help !
