    MK3 Aircon: Does it fit?

Does anyone know if the MK3 a/c unit will fit into a Mk2? I plan to do this to the golf when it gets here along with the power steering. It's already got the MK3 alternator setup.

    Cheers people!

You can [probably get the correct mk2 parts, rather than making mk3 parts fit.

I did one where we used the Mk3 alternator belt setup and Mk3 ac compressor and then got hoses made to fit into the Mk2 condensor and heater box. It worked well and did away with lots of v belts and home made brackets. Youd probably need to get parts from a Mk2 and a Mk3 to make it work if your car has no ac.

Well it's got no A/c and driving it round the UK on 30+ days with the windows open didn;t succeed in cooling me down much (It's got the early quaterlight doors so the air goes PAST the driver into the back!)

Any mk2's being broken anywhere with A/c?

I should have most of the bits you need.
I reckon the list is this

Mk2 Heater Box with AC section for up under your dash.

Extra switch panel to allow you to turn it on inside the car.

Different glovebox and lower shelf to allow for the bigger heater box.

Custom hoses to connect to the Mk3 Compressor.

Mk2 Condensor and filter to fit in front of your radiator.

Mk3 Compressor and Bracket for Alternator and Power Steer Pump

    Continuous Belt to suit Mk3.

I reckon I have all of that on the shelf in sydders, except the A/C switch panel. Source this before you leave the UK and you will be set.

Mk2s are not plentiful here mate, there were a couple of hundred official imports and some private imports, thats it......

It has the switch for the ac in it.
Probably need the switch for behind it too if possible.

Can you pm me the price for all that stuff please?

Cheers. I'll keep my eye out for an A/C panel from the UK/US wherever!
