Confirms the problem is with the starter or battery not charging properly.
Next time it happens at night turn on the headlights and see if they go dim when you try to start the car on the starter motor. If they do then either you've got a dying battery, alternator not charging properly or poor earth lead connections between battery, body and engine.
If the lights stay bright you've got a faulty starter motor.
