Thread: mk2 gti wont start

  1. #11

Yes Spike we did, found out something was wrong inside the head....basically Number 3 cylinder was leaking and the ECU was full of water (drain holes in tray was blocked)
So fitted a new ECU and changing the engine.

Do a leak test...make sure all the valves are closing

Geez sounds serious Velly, all sorted now ? was it just the ECU in the end?

I changed the ECU and it started to fire...but then just wouldnt start.
Changed the engine and all was good.
I have the old engine while I was to pull apart to find the problem. Plus the old engine was a 2.0 with high lift cam.
So I want to take it apart and sell the bottom end and the cam.

Pulled out the ecu today and pulled it down, everything looks ok.

I wouldn't mind getting another to just test the theory. Any one got a spare that they want to sell?
