I have owned 1,(1600 + 1800) 2 (8V) and 3 in GTI format, and yes the MK2 may be better in some areas, it should be it is newer. Having said that the MK1 looks way better than the MK2.. Saying that the MK3 i owned was horrid to drive in comparision to the older models.

I think looks comes down to personal choice, and i am torn between the mk1 and mk2 (if done right), but yes i agree mk3 just doesnt share the same pedigree...

and I love the cabs, have been trying to get my missus to like them so i can get her one as an excuse....
